Lt. Rob Jones
Douglas County Sheriff's Department, Nebraska
Lieutenant Jones served as a sworn deputy sheriff with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (Nebraska) for 24 years. During his service with the agency, Lieutenant Jones was assigned to patrol operations for over 20 years which provided experience dealing with people in crisis; i.e.—people in mental health crisis on the streets, domestic/family violence disturbances, individuals overwhelmed by grief, arrestees, etc.
Lieutenant Jones served as the agency’s chaplain liaison and was instrumental in establishing and developing a chaplain program with the agency which has grown to six volunteer chaplains.
Lieutenant Jones retired in 2022 and was appointed a volunteer chaplain with the agency.
Lieutenant Jones is an internationally certified hostage/crisis negotiator who has completed over 300 training hours facilitated by either current/retired members of the NYPD, FBI and Scotland Yard in dealing with crisis de-escalation and kidnapping for ransom events.
